Dolphins - Year 3

Hi and Welcome to Dolphins!

I am Miss Marriott and I will be teaching in the Dolphins class this year with the support of Mrs Selves.

Spring 2

Welcome back! I hope you all had a fantastic half term break and are ready for an exciting new term ahead. With spring on the way, the days are getting longer, the air is getting warmer, and new opportunities are blooming! I can’t wait to dive into fresh learning, new challenges, and plenty of fun along the way!

PE continues to be on a Monday afternoon, but this term Dolphins will be swimming again. Please remember the correct swimming kits; swimming hat, costume/trunks, towel and earrings out. If your child wants to wear goggles, I need written permission for this (the ones from last term are still valid, so no need for a new one!)

Forest school will continue on alternate Tuesdays:

Tuesday 4th March

Tuesday 18th March

Tuesday 1st April

As always, your child will need a change of shoes (wellies/trainers) and long-sleeved clothing to participate in activities at the forest safely. Trousers are needed. We will be attending the forest in all weathers so please ensure you send your child with appropriate clothing each week.

For both PE and Forest school sessions, the no earrings rule still stands. We are not permitted to remove earrings in school and tape can no longer be used instead of removing earrings. Children will miss their PE lessons if they are unable to take out their earrings independently.

General Reminders:

Tuck shop will be available at break times. If your child would like to bring their own snack for break, this needs to be a healthy item e.g. fruit.

Spring 2 Curriculum

English - We’ll dive into the world of whales with Big Blue Whale and This Morning I Met a Whale, gathering facts for our information article. Then we’ll write our own Dinka-inspired poems, celebrating nature and strength.

Maths - We’ll continue with length and perimeter, followed by fractions, mass, and capacity. Let’s measure, compare, and calculate our way through!

D & T - We’ll bring some spark to our designs with Electronic Charm, exploring how to build and use electronic components to create functional and fun projects.

Music - We’ll work on developing our singing techniques, learning how to use our voices effectively and confidently to create beautiful music together.

Computing - We’ll build and use branching databases to group objects using yes/no questions. Get ready to create your own digital decision-making systems!

French - We’ll learn to express what we can do in French with the phrase "I Am Able," expanding our vocabulary and confidence in speaking about abilities.
